Finding Day Trips in Bandar Seri Begawan
People travelling to Brunei are asking what are the activities to do here. This sounds familiar especially when you are having a few hours of transit at the airport. While waiting, you are recommended to find some activities or day trips in Bandar Seri Begawan to maximize your precious time.
There are several ideal places to explore in the vicinity of Bandar Seri Begawan. The water village, Malay Technology museum and Royal Regalia are the places that provide some education on Brunei’s history and facts. Iconic mosques like the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque and Jame’Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque are perfect for short visit and photo stop. Do stop by at Damuan Park for photo stop near the largest residential palace in the world, Istana Nurul Iman.
Other activities to consider include taking a relaxing boat ride to see the elusive proboscis monkeys, either along the Damuan River near the capital or at Tutong town, less than an hour drive from here. If you have the chance to stay longer, seize the opportunity to visit a night market in Gadong. Here you can find a great variety of local snacks and other delectable food & beverage for sale. Brunei’s skyline is different at night where the magnificent mosques and palace are lighted up. Take this opportunity to shoot night scene photos.
Love nature? We recommend you going to Ulu Temburong National Park for day trip. However, be ready to depart there via speedboat as early as 7.00am and return by 3.30pm. The trip involves 3 modes of transports, which is speedboat, van and then lastly, long boat along the beautiful Temburong River. The reason to visit this national park is simply to stretch your body after your long flight. Trek up 850 steps followed by climbing up the steel canopy tower for a panoramic view of the rainforest! You might not have ever imagined you can enjoy such lovely view in Brunei.
Definitely there are other attractions to discover in Brunei for short duration. For instance, the palatial Empire Hotel & Country Club and Jerudong Park if you have kids and feel like having some fun together. Visiting most of these attractions can be done by arranging a cab at airport but due to lack of cabs operating in the capital, you are advised to arrange tour with a reputable tour operator.
